Who else deserves credit in this story — who has played a gay cousins role? Though not actual cousins, real-life best friends Estevan & Michael met in college in a gay fraternity and bonded over their love of tacos, pop culture and boys (not in that order). Though we aren’t actual cousins, we decided to call the podcast “Your Gay Cousins” because, well, everybody has a gay cousin (and if you don’t, surprise, you’re the gay cousin).

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? All the credit goes to us. Any shoutouts? Neither of us are out to our parents yet as they are fairly conservative but it was nice to find some comfort in each other. From that, Your Gay Cousins, our weekly half-hour podcast was born. The two of us have worked in entertainment for our entire adult lives and we were looking to find a creative outlet that was completely our own, one that celebrated the intersection of queer pride and Latinx culture. The day our first episode premiered, we realized that there is an entire community of people who weren’t hearing themselves reflected back to them. Turns out my cousin goes by she/they and is Pan!
